I still really miss Kenya and being on the mission field but I have learned to be content wherever the Lord places me... even at home. Not that being at home is a bad thing. I love my family and I'll always come back to my home. But I know that I am called to GO.
So these past 2 months the Lord has blessed me with some extra time with friends, family, and supporters. It has been a good time to do some things that I have wanted to do. Here are just a few of the things I've been up too...
I took a trip to MN for some self-initiated debriefing time at Bethany (my sending agency). I got to visit with some of my old team mates from my first trip to Kenya. That helped so much with my transition back to the States.
My brother and I
My family took a day to go out on the lake. I grew up boating and wake boarding. I don't make it wake to wake very often but when I do it's glorious! :)
I also took an extended trip to visit my sister and her family. It was such a blessing to spend some extra time with my niece, Hannah. She is growing up so fast and she is becoming more and more beautiful. We are so excited for her little brother to arrive in February!
This transition has been full of hard times and good times. The Lord has taught me so much through all of this. He taught me to further rely on him. When I arrived back in August I felt so completely weak. I felt no strength in and of myself but God's strength saw me through. I continue to feel weak on a regular basis but I have learned not to rely on my own strength but His. I just have to trust Him each new day for the strength that I will need. I wrote in my journal the other day, "Weakness is not always a bad thing - in fact, it is an opportunity to experience the power of God's amazing grace."
